A career in fashion is exciting, competitive and fast-paced. The career paths available can vary greatly and often intersect with other industries. Some fashion professionals are focused on the design, creation and styling of garments, while others work within the commercial end of the industry in sales or fashion merchandising roles. There is also a demand for fashion reporting, PR, photography and marketing.
Our Fashion students work in a fully equipped printed textile studio with industrial knitting machines in an environment that encourages an industrious and professional work ethic. Students also benefit from spacious pattern cutting and garment construction studios. Our state-of-the-art facilities in our dedicated Creative Industries Centre enable Kingston College to strengthen its reputation as a leading provider of quality fashion and textile courses in the South East. We have a fashion course at Level 3 suitable for Post 16 school leavers and a Foundation Degree in Fashion & Textiles for those wishing to study at a university level.
Students work in our dedicated Creative Industries Centre and our talented students exhibit a range of their work at our end of year Summer Shows. Our short Summer Shows video encapsulates the talent, vibrancy and range of courses we offer!
"I developed my art skills, learned how to design and construct my own garments using industrial machines and techniques, as well learning about marketing in the fashion industry." Rebeca Acsinia, Fashion Student
I chose to study a Fashion BTEC as I was always interested in the Fashion industry and wanted something more specialised rather than just doing A levels. This course provided me with the insight into the fashion industry as well giving as me a headstart on the skills and experience I would need for that.
I developed my art skills, got to experiment with different media and find a style which suited me which I was then able to develop further. I was able to experiment with different textiles techniques - there were no limitations to what we could design and produce giving us room to find out our own style. I learnt not only how to design but to construct my own garments using industrial machines and techniques. The course doesn’t only focus on the design and making side of the industry but it also teaches us about marketing in the fashion industry.
I’m really happy with my decision to study at Kingston College as not only has the support given by the College and lecturers helped me find out what I want to do next, they have also helped me plan how to do it. The students that I’ve met on my course are friends that I can always rely on and it’s honestly just great fun.
